Bernard Hampton

Bernard passed away in 2001. He was with our class for most of high school, but did not graduate.
A note from Bill Klanderman: When I was preparing the slide show for the 50th class reunion, I realized we were missing a photo of Bernard Hampton Ð who passed away in 2001. I know his sister-in-law real well so called Mary Hanson Hampton (class of 61) and asked for a picture. Later in the day I got a call from BernardÕs widow, Rita, and later got a photo from her daughter.

Rita told me that Bernard dropped out of high school early to work on the farm, which explains why we didnÕt have a picture. However, Rita agreed to send me a picture of Bernard to complete our reunion photo collage. In our short discussion I discovered that she and Bernard met at a roller skating rink and were married in 1960. In 1965 they purchased their farm north of Spring Valley; Rita and Bernard have seven children Ð 5 girls and 2 boys Ð and in addition to working on the farm Bernard worked in the Wilson Elevator.
