Janet (Hargrave) Gavic (1951-2008)

Phase I - Left my teaching/choir career - married - wife - mother of six - cook - housekeeper - nurse - teacher - psychologist - entertainer - gardener - seamstress - widow - manager - greenskeeper - snow blower - BREATHER - directing junior and senior choirs at church - Sunday School teacher - Luther League - singing in ecumentical choirs.

Phase II - Re-entering the work world - nursing home Social Worker, nurturing, encouraging residents and their families - all six children completed college and started careers.

Phase III - Sold family home in Spring Valley - found Hudson - entered scary new world of new home - new friends - new church - new community - new jobs. Surprise! People needed me! Worked in Hospice - caregiver in private home - guardianship services - volunteered at nursing home/commjunity action/church - sang in church choir and area Oratories. Another surprise! Hired as Nursing Home Volunteer Coordinator and served five years until retirement at 70. Using scientific advances for "new parts" to better enjoy family, ten grandchildren, two great grands - garden with flowers in pots - walk - love new home and new neighbors. God has been good!

I am honored to be invited to your class of 1953 55th Class Reunion. Our choir experience for that one year is such a small part of your whole history - I'm surprised you even remember it. For me it was "huge"! You were all such a joy to work with - and the results were all so rewarding to me - that I have always been thankful for the year of experiences - Yes, more than one experience! A great memory!

In appreciation, Janet

She thinks the Class of '53 is one of the best and we agree!
