John Barstad

John & Cheryl Barstad at theior Home in Anchorage, Alaska

SeasonÕs Greetings Ð 2013
With this correspondence, we are sending our best wishes for a holiday season filled with the gifts of Peace, Joy, Happiness, and Love this blessed time of year.
Crash Ð Bang! Over this past weekend, close to eight inches of snow fell, meaning that in this part of Alaska, winter has begun; which will last until the second week of April 2014. With the beginning of winter, other more delightful events will occur, beginning with the Lutefisk Dinner on November 16th. Eating lutefisk is an additional sacrament in the Lutheran Church.
A few days later, mother Edna, will celebrate her ninety-ninth birthday.
Following will be Thanksgiving, Advent, and the glorious days of the Christmas season.
I, John, was greatly saddened in June with the passing of Uncle Link, my last living Uncle. Now he is safely in heaven with an untold number of loved ones who preceded him there. Link was far more than an Uncle, as he was big brother, tutor, and dear friend as well. Only die- hard Republicans would get heart burn listening to his rhetoric.
One of our many enjoyments is to watch our granddaughter grow both physically and intellectually. She is now a third grader, whom we are fortunate to have her in our home after every school day.
A subscription to Ancestry.com is proving to be invaluable, as a few errors in my collections have been found.
Often, we enjoy eating breakfast at any one of several restaurants about this city.
Many of these eating places employ waitresses of Asiatic nationalities. After asking John if he wishes a coffee refill, they give John the most interesting expressions after he says ÒVera as SmiledÓ, Norwegian for ÒBe so kindÓ.
