Class of 1952
SENIOR CLASS HISTORY

Everyone has memories of their past; especially of their school days. We find this to be true of the Spring Valley Seniors, also. Here are same of the memories each senior who graduates in 1952 will carry through life with him. Our freshman class, of about sixty-six, entered Spring Valley High School in the fall of 1948. Our first undertaking was to organize our class with the aid of our advisor, Mr. Hugh McCardle. The officers we elected were: President, Harold Moe; Vice President, Ruth Thompson; Secretary, Millie Peterson; Treasurer, Wayne Voelker. Initiation was our first big event, then came Homecoming. Freshman Beverly Brandt was Homecoming Queen. In the spring came the Junior Prom. Freshman Marilyn Anderson was Prom Queen. Our Sophomore year wasn't too eventful. Our class advisor was Mr. Colburn Brooke. Our officers were: President, Dick Wood; Vice President, Alfred Kurchinski; Secretary and Treasurer, Carole Hulverson."

We were very busy during our Junior year. In the fall we sponsored a magazine sale, of which Anita Larson was high salesman. The Junior Class presented the play "Inner Willy". We got our class rings. Our officers were: President, Steve 0' Connell; Vice President, Bill Pence; Secretary and Treasurer, Reta Lansing. Mr. Fred Leach, our class advisor, helped us make the Junior Prom and Junior-Senior Banquet a success. The theme of our prom was 'Harbor Lights'. Nola Madson was elected to represent us at the Badger Girls State. Our Senior year found us back in school with one aim - to make the most of our last year in Spring Valley High. Mr. Russell Aamodt, our class advisor, proved to be a great help to us in many of our senior problems. We elected the following officers to see us through this year: President, Nola Madson; Vice President, Wayne Voelker; Secretary and Treasurer, Lorraine Jacobson. In April we presented the class play, "Good Night Ladies." This year we were guests at the Junior-Senior Banquet, held April 6. Bacculareate services were held on Sunday, May 18, with Reverend D. M. Sterling as speaker. On May 23, Commencement Day, fifty seniors gathered at the Spring Valley High School Auditorium to receive our diplomas. R. Schneickal gave a very inspiring address. Valedictorian was Nola Madson and Salutatorian was Anita Larson. Our classmate Harold Moe, was not present at our graduation exercises as he is serving his country in the armed forces.
